Spooky Halloween Table

Sorry I missed last week, but life is crazy here.  It seemed that Thursday was gone before I knew it.  I am trying to get a jump on it by getting this ready Wednesday evening.  Maybe one day I will figure it out.  I look forward to Susan's Tablescape Thursday at "Between Naps on the Porch.," so I am sorry I missed out last week.

This Halloween table has been "brewing" for some time now.  I am excited that I finally get to show it to you.  I found this spooky plates by Fitz and Floyd at Dillards and wrestled with whether or not I wanted to buy them.  Halloween is after all only once a year, but then I would buy Christmas plates, and Christmas is only once a year.

The plates were in four spooky designs.  Witches, and bats, and ghosts and skeletons - oh my!

I really didn't have any appropriate glasses for such spooky plates, so I found these horn shaped mugs at a local antique shop.

And paired them with black flutes found at Hobby Lobby.
The brass candle holders are part of a set I picked up at a garage sale.

I wanted appropriately scary napkin rings, but after the other purchases, decided to "make" napkin rings.

I found some sparkly spiders that were stickers and put them on  my silver napkin rings.

And a cute cauldron filled with candy corn.

The centerpiece was tricky...I wanted something spooky.

So I put black silk roses in a vase with black and clear rocks.  It is sparse but I think more would look less spooky.  The candlesticks are from Hobby Lobby.  I wanted to use really tall tapers, but the candlesticks hold a larger candle.  A very helpful clerk suggested I use the black rocks to hold the candle in.

I had Fire King Peach Lustre plates and dessert bowls, so I used them.  They are kind of light for orange, but it still looks pretty good.

I found these black plates with a pebbling effect on the rim at KMart a while back, and of course my silver chargers.

The finished project.

But a spooky table isn't as much fun with the lights on, so...

Happy Halloween!

Fall is Here!

I have seriously been ready for fall since mid-August.  I have put together this table to celebrate my love of this time of year!

I found these adorable fall cup and saucers at a little antique shop near home.

Which is the same place I found these sunflower glasses.

The salt and pepper shakers went perfectly with the fall table.  I believe I found them at Ross.  The arrangement was pre-made, but I loved the simplicity of it.

Rather than conventional napkins I used these mustard and red dish towels.

The leaf salad plates and faux antique copper chargers are from the Better Homes and Gardens collection at Wal-Mart and the red dinner plates are from Wal-Mart's canopy collection.

The bowls were found at Ross.  They are simply called "orange rooster."

This is the finished setting.
